A 21-year-old man from Shackleton Mine, Chinhoyi, has been jailed for three years for setting his father’s house and car on fire in a domestic dispute.
Knowledge Jani was dragged to the Chinhoyi Magistrate Court facing charges of malicious damage to property.
He was initially sentenced to four years before one year was suspended on the condition of good behaviour.
The complainants are the accused’s father and stepmother.
The National Prosecuting Authority said last month, Knowledge went to the complainant’s house and accused them of causing his sickness.
He charged at them before he destroyed his father’s Nissan Sunny.
He drained some fuel from the vehicle, which he used to set the house and vehicle on fire.
The property destroyed is worth US$14000.
