THREE Harare men appeared in court over the weekend after they allegedly stole from the son of late Minister Joel Biggie Matiza.

The trio of Tafadzwa Murape, Edmore Round and Progress Manhao appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda.

The court heard that on June 28, this year, the complainant, Batsirai Matiza, parked his car along Emmerson Mnangagwa Road in Harare in order to relieve himself.

In his car, he had a grey satchel, which contained a laptop, an expired Zimbabwean passport, a wallet with a driver’s licence, a national identity card and an iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The trio allegedly took advantage of his absence from the car and stole Matiza’s belongings.

When Matiza returned to the car, he noticed that his belongings were missing, prompting him to file a police report, at Highlands Police Station.

Investigations revealed that Mickey Gilbert was in possession of the stolen valuables and, upon questioning, he implicated the trio as the perpetrators of the offence, leading to their arrest.

Moses Mapanga appeared for the State.
