A WOMAN from Bulawayoas Lobengula West suburb is living in fear following death threats from her son who feels her a?delayeda? death is robbing him of an opportunity to inherit the family house.
Elizabeth Faifi (62) is disappointed by her only son Jeffrey Sigauke (34) who always shouts and threatens to slice her into pieces when she refuses to give him money from her vending stall.
He also allegedly takes advantage of the helpless woman, forcibly taking away her money and then threatening to kill her.
a?My only son has really let me down and his behaviour has forced me to report the matter to the police as he always shouts at me threatening to slice me into pieces.
a?I am living in fear and I do not even have tenants at my house because he evicted them claiming the house belonged to him,a? she said.
Sigauke is the only son in a family of five.
Faifi had a vending stall, but Sigaukeas habit of forcibly collecting the dayas earnings resulted in its closure.
Sigaukeas behaviour forced Faifi to report the matter to the police in 2014 and the courts had given him seven days to vacate the house. For refusing to leave, he was arrested on a Contempt of Court charge.
He appeared before magistrate Tancy Dube who remanded him in custody to 1 July.
The court heard that on 15 August 2014, Sigauke was ordered by a magistrate at Tredgold courts not to abuse his mother verbally or interfere with tenants.
He was also told to vacate his motheras house within seven days, but he failed to comply with the court order.
The mother decided to drag him again to court as her life was in danger following death threats she gets from him.
Western Commonage magistrate Stephen Ndlovu convicted Sigauke on his own plea of guilty and sentenced him to nine months imprisonment.
Three months were suspended on condition of good behaviour and will effectively serve six months.
