Bobby Mugadza will now perform 208 hours of community service after he was convicted of indecent exposure.
He was convicted on his own plea of guilty to the charge when he appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Tendai Rusinahama.
The court slapped Mugadza (27) with 12 months imprisonment. However, four months of the sentence were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
A further eight months were suspended on condition that Mugadza performs 208 hours of community service at Waterfalls Police Station.
During mitigation, Mugadza said he did everything out of anger since he loved his girlfriend so much.
“I wanted my mother to know the kind of affection I have for my girlfriend. I am a human being with motives and she has to accept that,” said Mugadza.
Prosecutor Mr Michael Chakandida told the court that on June 22 this year Mugadza’s mother, Ms Violet Mugadza (59) was polishing her shoes while seated in the veranda.
Mugadza’s girlfriend arrived at their house and asked for her boyfriend. The mother chased her away from her house, which did not go down well with Mugadza. He fumed and came out of the house to escort her off the premises.
On his return, Mugadza followed his mother to her bedroom where he stripped naked. He told his mother that if she were to deny him the opportunity to see his girlfriend he would bed her.
The mother reported the matter to the police, which prompted Mugadza’s arrest.
