SOUTH African Gospel duo of Dumi Mkokstad and Ayanda Ntanzi will be returning to the City of Kings as they are part of the cast of the Spirit of Praise (SOP) ensemble, which will be performing in Bulawayo on November 30.
SOP visits Bulawayo for a third time in two years, as they bring their Next Level Tour.
Apart from Mkokstad and Ntanzi, other revered SOP ministers of the Gospel who will take to the stage are Lufuno Dagada, Mpumi Mtsweni, Omega Khunou, Sindi Ntombela, Xola Toto, Zaza Mokhethi, as well as Zimbabwe’s Everton Mlalazi and Canaan Nyathi.
Adding spiritual weight to the event will be seasoned psalmist and Pastor Mthunzi Namba, a foundational figure in the creation of the equally iconic Joyous Celebration. He will serve as guest of honour, guiding the ensemble through a night of high praise and worship.
Ayanda Ntanzi of the Imimoya fame, who last performed in Bulawayo in 2024 at the Bulawayo Gospel Festival, revealed that he always gets delighted when he is scheduled to perform in Zimbabwe.
“Bulawayo is one of my favourite places to perform at because the first time when I came here, I felt welcomed and connected very well with the people from the city. I was surprised that there are people who speak my Zulu language, when I heard them talk, I felt at home as I related with most of them.
“I can basically say, Bulawayo is home and I am proud to be returning with SOP to a beautiful city that is welcoming. I am looking forward to having a nice time on stage, as we spread the word of God through praise and worship,” said Ntanzi.
Thulani Mkokstad, who manages Dumi Mkokstad, another favourite for Bulawayo Gospel lovers, who staged a couple of gigs in the city last year, as well as early this year, said Dumi will bring a lot of vibes on the night of the show.
“Dumi is fresh from releasing a live project that includes his latest hit Lingevinjwe, which many people from all over the world, including Zimbabwe love so much.
“He is slowly becoming a regular in Bulawayo as he connects very well with his fans there. As he returns with Spirit of Praise, Dumi is looking forward to having an epic performance. He might perform Lingevinjwe – and afford his fans to listen to it live for the first time,” said Mkokstad.
Gospel lovers must brace for an epic night, filled with deliverance and standard display, as Bulawayo’s very own Mbo Mahocs has been roped as the master of ceremony for the night.
