Local boy-band Soul Afrika have collaborated with hip-hop sensation Tehn Diamond for the new album called “Ndimi Dzerudo” which is expected to be released soon. Soul Afrika who comprises of duo Takura Shonhayi and Tatenda Mathe said were happy with the initiative as it develops their career engaging different genres artistes.
Although the move is not new as they have previously collaborated with other artistes including Tererai Mugwadi and Cynthia Mare, the duo said the upcoming album defines what Soul Afrika is all about as it brings forth a unique melody different from the usual afro-Pop that people are used to.
In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, group member Takura Shonhayi said the actual release date will be announced in due course.
“We have done a couple of collaborations with some top local artistes as we aim to diversify our music so as to reach out to different people’’ he said.
“We have done a collaboration with Tehn Diamond on the single ‘Newe’ to bring that unique hip-hop flavour .
“We also engaged Tererai Mugwadi and Cynthia Mare on some of the tracks to try and satisfy urban grooves and mbira fans as well,” he added.
The duo have taken the local music scene to another level as they currently have two singles which are in the top ten on Power FM’s Hitsville.
Last year in 2014, the duo’s hit song titled “Zvinhu” was voted as the best song on Power FM and the video is still being played regularly on ZTV.
