ZIM dancehall’s most-sought-after chanter, Soul Jah Love, fondly referred to as Chibaba-baba Chacho, will reaffirm his passion for ghetto youths when he takes to the stage at Suncity, popularly known as Gwinyai Bar, in the heart of Mutare’s sprawling suburb of Sakubva on Friday (today).
The popular and talented Harare artiste has staged a number of successful shows in Mutare, but all of them were at Pick and Save in the city centre.
This time around, the man of the moment in local dancehall music will entertain his increasing numbers of fans in the ghetto.
Suncity proprietor Given Shumba confirmed the show.
Soul Jah Love and his Conquering Family will be supported by rising Harare-based chanters Jah Child and Bounty Lisa.
“We are excited to announce that Soul Jah Love will be in the ghetto for the first time in Mutare. The artiste will be on stage together with his Conquering Family.
“He has been around before, but the shows were held in the city centre. This time we have managed to lure him to the ghetto where we believe many of his genuine fans reside,” he said.
Shumba said they had lined up shows featuring a number of high profile artistes at Gwinyai Bar.
“As an entertainment spot, we have lined up shows featuring a number of high-profile artistes at Gwinyai Bar. We know there is potential in the ghetto and we really want to exploit that opportunity,” said Shumba.
Apparently, the dreadlocked musician earlier this year carved a hit song titled Ghetto which he
dedicates to his fans in the high-density suburbs across the country.
In most of his songs he attributes his success and fame to “ghetto youths”.
