Controversial dancehall chanter Saul Musaka aka Soul Jah Love failed to turn up for Freeman’s birthday bash at Super label on Saturday.
Soul Jah Love was among the list of artistes that included Rick Fire, Killert T and Shinsoman among others, who were supposed to grace Freeman’s birthday and perform at the bash.
In an interview with the Herald Entertainment Soul Jah Love’s manager, Tawanda Murambiri aka Khayaman, said he was called by Freeman’s manager in connection with the bash but failed to reach an agreement because of what the artistes (Freeman and Soul Jah Love) had agreed on while they were on their UK tour.
“Freeman’s manager called me last week about the bash and as a manager I charged them but he told me that while in the UK Freeman and Soul Jah Love had agreed that he (Soul Jah Love) would perform at Freeman’s bash and I told them that if such was the case they were not supposed to call me because they had agreed with him not me,
“I am a manager and this is business and if they had given me the money that I had charged them, definitely I could have made sure that Soul Jah Love performed at the bash but they talked as artistes so I do not see where I come in, you can ask him why he didn’t go” Khayaman said.
Freeman’s manager, Watson Kafelapanjila aka Watta, confirmed that Soul Jah Love had promised Freeman that he would perform at the bash and that Soul Jah Love’s manager had also promised that his artiste would grace the event.
“I talked to Soul Jah Love’s manager and he said if the artiste had promised to come they were going to come but surprisingly they did not show up,” he said.
The birthday boy said he was not moved by the absence of the “Ndini Uya-uya” hitmaker, saying it would not stop him from doing what he knows best, and that is making music.
“I am happy with the artistes who made it to my birthday party, they did their best, they thrilled and as you witnessed the turnout was just overwhelming, “Of course, other artistes did not turn up but hazvitimise kuita basa . . . I did my best for my fans though I was not feeling well. I had a terrible headache but no one noticed it,” Freeman said.
Meanwhile, Soul Jah Love is not the only artiste who failed to make it to the bash, Shinsoman, Lady Squanda and Kinnah also failed to show up but this did not drive away the Dangerzone fans who at around 11:30pm, were still seen trying to make their way into the venue which was already filled to the rafters.
