THE Zifa Southern Region Soccer League has received a major boost after securing a US$37 000 sponsorship package from Pacific Cigarette Company under its Pacific Breeze brand.
The deal, signed on Friday will see the competition rebranded as the Pacific Breeze Southern Region Soccer League after the company acquired naming rights for the league.
The one-year sponsorship will provide financial support to the league’s operations while also introducing prize money for participating clubs. At the end of the season, the league champions will walk away with a cash prize, while all teams competing in the league will also receive participation incentives.
Southern Region chairman Cris Mtungwazi described the sponsorship as a major step forward for football in the region.
“This sponsorship marks a major milestone in the history of the Zifa Southern Region Soccer League. It represents the first major commercial partnership secured by the league, and it sends a powerful message that regional football matters, that our clubs matter, and that our players deserve opportunities to grow and succeed,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the sponsors, Takunda Mangauzani said Pacific Cigarette Company was delighted to partner the league and support the growth of football in the Southern Region.
“We have created a bond here and we expect this to bear fruit,” said Mangauzani.
