The Spanish Film Festival, hosted by The Embassy of Spain and the Alliance Francaise, opened yesterday and will end on Saturday. Four Spanish films will be screened during the festival with one special projection for children on Saturday afternoon. In a statement the Spanish Embassy said the festival was for free.
“Entry is free to all citizens of Zimbabwe and all films are in Spanish with English subtitles,” reads the statement. They said the embassy has been active in promoting cultural events and engaging Zimbabwean citizens on the activities.
“This is the first Spanish film festival ever held in Zimbabwe. Through the years the Embassy of Spain has been very active in promoting cultural events and engaging Zimbabwean citizens,” read the statement.
Last month it organised an “Open Door Day” for children in the garden of the Embassy during which Zimbabwean children from several main Harare schools, the Dzikwa Trust Orphanage and Spanish children learnt basic Spanish vocabulary and culture while playing fun games.
A film titled “Primos” screened yesterday with “Blancanieves” set to premiere today and “Copito De Nieve” being the last to be screened on Saturday. Most of these films have been nominated in the Spanish top awards since 2011.
