SPARKLE FC chairman, Joseph Matawu, says his social football league team was formed on a WhatsApp group.
He said they had realised they could turn some boring weekends into entertaining ones by playing social football.
He said Sparkle have not affiliated to any social league and their fixtures were random.
“It started like a joke,” he told H-Metro.
“One group member came with the suggestion and everyone bought into it.
“We then decided to form our team from the WhatsApp group members.
“We are not registered with any social league, but we have been playing against several teams around the country.” He said they plan to organise games against foreign social football teams.
“We are still working on developing a number of things, but one of our major targets is to play against foreign boozers.
“We self-sponsor our team through paying monthly subscriptions.”
Former Dynamos, Sporting Lions, Shabanie Mine and Lancashire Steal striker, Ernest Gava, is the only notable former top-flight league player in their team.
But, some PSL players frequently play for them just to keep fit.
