Parliament Speaker Advocate Jacob Mudenda will lead a parliamentary delegation on a bilateral visit to the United Kingdom’s House of Commons scheduled for October 18 to 24.
A statement issued by Parliament this Thursday said the delegation includes members of the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Portfolio Committee chaired by Cde Webster Shamu (Zanu PF), Cde Mercy Mugomo (Zanu PF), Cde Noah Mangondo (Zanu PF), Vivian Chitimbe (CCC) and Concillia Chinanzvavana (CCC).
The Speaker’s delegation will be joined by embassy staff led by Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to the UK, Colonel (Rtd) Christian Katsande.
The Zimbabwe delegation is expected to meet the House of Commons’ Foreign Affairs Committee, Science, Innovation and Technology Committee, the Education Committee and Energy Security and Net Zero Committee.
The Speaker of the House of Commons, Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle, will host a luncheon for the Zimbabwe delegation.
Relations between Zimbabwe and the UK have thawed following the coming in of the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa.
The relations between Zimbabwe and its former coloniser took a negative turn after Zimbabwe embarked on the fast-track land reform programme meant to correct skewed land ownership that favoured the minority whites against the majority black Zimbabweans.
