LIFE coach, Shamiso Foxx, believes the rate of suicides, due to depression, can be reduced by exposing victims to spiritual coaching.
Shamiso spoke about how depressed people can be helped to turn around their state by bringing them closer to God.
“Depressed people don’t need an environment that’s judgemental, they just want to be left alone.
“God’s love then bridges that gap as the person would have the presence of God.
“The moment you feel the presence of God, that is love, acceptance, joy and peace, you will never be the same again.
“You will end up having a better relationship with yourself and others.
“The first step is making the victim realise that they are worthy of God’s love.
“Spiritual practices, such as prayer, walking in nature, and going to church are beneficial to their mental health.
“If a person feels judged in church, which happens a lot, they tend to quit that church.”
She stressed that depressed people should be kept away from possible triggers to prevent suicide.
“It’s important to help them find themselves in something that lifts their spirits.
“When you have a relative, or someone who is suicidal, seek professional help.
“Sometimes money may not be available, so try and make them do what they love.
“Don’t force your beliefs on them. Surround them with a lot of true love,” said Shamiso.
