CHRONICLE family will today trade their pens for soccer boots and netball bibs at Girls College to celebrate the publication’s 120-year anniversary. Innocent Madonko, the Deputy Editor of Chronicle, said the sporting festival is meant to celebrate the company’s 120th birthday through the promotion of sport.

“The sports day is an opportunity to promote sport starting with our own family at Chronicle at the same time getting the staff members to interact away from the office,” said Madonko.

Sport is a good team builder.

During the event, Chronicle employees will battle it out in three sporting disciplines basketball, football and netball, should numbers allow.

Madonko said the event is meant to act as a team building exercise which is meant to promote the spirit of team work and unity among the workforce.

“We hope that the sports day will motivate team work and keep the Chronicle family fit at the same time,” said Madonko.

For most journalists who have a passion for expressing their sporting expertise in columns, this will be the day for them to put their skills to practice on the pitch.
