Some people are born great, some acquire greatness while others have greatness thrust upon them. Shingai Pasipanodya (18) is a sports fanatic who has featured in several sporting activities and is a shining star with multiple talents.
In his case, playing soccer, cricket, athletics, swimming, and cross country since primary level has shown his pedigree as he has excelled with each outing.
In an interview with CLS S, Shingai expressed his dedication to sports since his primary school days.
“I started my sporting career in primary at Alexandra Park, and that is when I achieved my first award for being the sportsman of the year. I also was the captain of the athletics, cross country, and swimming teams at the same time in primary school,” he said.
Shingai trimmed some activities and concentrated on soccer, cricket and athletics.
Unlike most students who find getting into the Under-20 team at the age of 16 almost impossible, it’s a different story for Shingai as he was selected for the Under-20 Zimbabwe Chisz football team.
“In Form Three I was selected for the Under-20 Zimbabwe Chisz team, Under-20 Mashonaland cricket team and Under-17 athletics team,” he said.
Now Shingai is the current Chisz captain and won several awards this year.
Shingai encouraged other young athletes to have the passion to do whatever they desire to do and put their hearts to it.
“My message to others is that everything is possible if you put your mind to it because the sky is the limit,” he said.
