THE South African rugby legends held a three-hour training session with Victoria Falls enthusiasts at the Victoria Falls Primary School yesterday. Falls rugby lovers and players were treated to a professional training experience with the Springbok Legends.

The coaching clinic was conducted by Springbok selector and Bulawayo born legendary Ian MacIntosh and his Springboks aids.

Maclntosh who is the Springboks coach praised the Victoria Falls community for their warm welcome and attending the coaching clinic.

“Zimbabwe is my home country, the Victoria Falls community gave us a warm welcome and we feel at home.”

“We didn’t expect to get such a massive turn out for the training clinic so we really feel honoured,” said Maclntosh.

A total of 60 local players from the resort town attended the training camp with the team holding a mini training session in preparation for their game against Zimbabwe today.

Maclntosh said they are confident ahead of today’s game.

“We’re looking forward to our match tomorrow, we’ve six former Springbok players with the rest of the team having been playing professional rugby in South Africa.

“Zimbabwe has got good players but I believe we’ve a strong and experienced side, we’re just going to get into the game and play our best,” said Maclntosh yesterday.

Missing from the South African side are Zimbabwe born legends Gary Teitchman and Adrian Garvey.

Zimbabwean Legends captain Sean Robinson said even though they did not manage to get all the players they will give South Africa a good run for their money.

“We’ve been training quite a lot at the Heath Streak Academy over the past few weeks and if South Africa think they’ll have it easy they should think again,” said Robinson.

The Zimbabwean team will miss Brighton Chivandire, Craig Riley and Kudzai Madzingire who pulled out at the last minute.
