THE Sport and Recreation Commission has identified a candidate for the vacant post of Matabeleland North sport coordinator and the person is expected to commence duty on 1 January 2012. The position fell vacant after the then incumbent, Permanent Sibanda was dismissed following his appearance in court on charges of abusing commission funds, in liaison with Kusile Rural District Council employees.
SRC director of sports development, Joseph Muchechetere confirmed the developments.
“We have made our recommendations to the body after we had a shortlist and did our interviews, we now have our candidate but at the moment I cannot name him until the person is officially notified by the board,” said Muchechetere.
The incumbent will immediately be tasked with organising the Zimbabwe National Paralympics Games which the province will be hosting in April next year.
