GWANDA businessman and Ward Two councillor, Clr Butholezwe Mkwananzi yesterday donated furniture worth $3 000 to the Early Childhood Development (ECD) class at St Christopher’s Primary School in the mining town.
The donation was made in partnership with another local businessman, Mr Mqalisi Singo. “We realised that the needs of the ECD class are not catered for in the school budget hence this donation,” said Clr Mkwananzi.

The school which is in ward Two,received 50 desks and 50 chairs for the ECD class.
“We will continue to initiate programmes that will promote development in our area working together with the community,” said Clr Mkwananzi.

The school had a challenge to secure furniture for the ECD class.
Mr Singo said they were touched by the fact that ECD class pupils had no chairs and as such were forced to seat on the floor.
“The learning environment was not friendly for these young children,” he said.
