ST Columbus’ dominated the national Catholic Schools Association (CASA) Games held at St Joseph’s High School in Rusape last Friday. The school amassed a total of 12 gold medals. A total of 15 Catholic schools battled it out for honours in this year’s edition of the CASA Games in Rusape. Although they reportedly arrived late due to problems with their bus, St Columbus’ still managed to romp to victory by scooping most of the gold medals.
The national CASA Games are played by schools under Roman Catholic. CASA chairperson, a Chibvuri said this year’s games had stiffer competitions which made them enjoyable to watch.
“We enjoyed the games as the schools fought for the top spot. St Columbus’ High School despite arriving late stole the limelight in the competitions and went away with most gold medals.
“The organisation of the events was impressive. We had multiple grounds for different events which made it easier to finish all the events early,” said Chibvuri. He also confirmed that at the top was the St Columbus’ High with 12 gold medals, 11 silver medals and five bronze medals, while St Killian’s High School had seven gold, 10 silver and eight bronze medals to settle for second position.
Holy Ghost High was in third position with seven gold, six silver and three bronze medals.
Mweyamutsvene High weighed in on fourth position with seven gold, five silver and three bronze medals.
In fifth position was the hosting school, St Joseph’s High school after they managed to bag six gold, six silver and two bronze medals. Chibvuri extended his appreciation to all officials who graced the Games.
“I want to thank the presence of the District Education Inspector, Ministry of Education secretariat as well as church leadership,” he said.
