Ruzawi for winning the tournament, I thought they played better cricket than us that night, we had our chance and we blew it away.
“At one stage we had them 13 for one inside the first three overs, we bowled too many length balls in the last three overs and Ruzawi scored 4O runs off them.
“And 54 runs was always going to be a tall mountain for us to climb off just six overs.
“The boys showed a lot of character and never gave up so I am happy and proud of them.
We were up with the required rate earlier on and if it was not for the three run-outs up-front it really would have been a different story.
“We just have to improve on our death bowling and running between the wickets.
“I am confident that will bounce back and win the next tournament,” said Mutare. Broc Meyer won the tournament’s best catch award while his teammate Greg Dollar was awarded the best wicket keeper award. The best bowler was from Springvale school, best batsman was from Hellenic school and the best all rounder was from the winners Ruzawi. Lilfordia headmaster, Donald Campbell, said they were happy to see that talent that was displayed the teams during the tourney.
“We were very happy with the turn out and the level that the game was played at and there was a lot of talent displayed by our young players.
“Next year we want to invite the teams from high density areas and Chimpembere will be one of them,” said Campbell.
