IRKED by his married step-son’s alleged promiscuity, a Chimanimani man (62) allegedly stabbed him several times in the abdomen.
Promise Mutetwa (22) is now battling for his life at Chipinge District Hospital, with his intestines protruding.
Police confirmed the incident which recently happened in Chief Muusha’s area.
“Naison Shuga (62), who is Mutetwa’s stepfather, approached his wife, Wongai Chibani (the victim’s mother) and expressed concern over the young man’s alleged extra marital affairs.
“A misunderstanding ensued, before Shuga picked a knife and attacked Mutetwa. He stabbed hi step-son several times in the abdomen, resulting in his intestines protruding,” said Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Norbert Muzondo.
A report was made to the police who attended the scene.
Mutetwa’s condition deteriorating and he was rushed to Chipinge District Hospital.
Shuga vanished from the scene.
Inspector Muzondo spoke strongly against domestic violence:
“Domestic violence usually happens in the private sphere, but spills into the public sphere as a manifestation of deeply rooted timely problems. The family must realise that once there is a problem, there is a solution which is amicable and they must always engage others.
“We are appealing to members of the public with information leading to Shuga’s arrest to contact their nearest police station,” said Inspector Muzondo.
