MUTARE Girls’ High School will come alive with colour, confidence and couture tomorrow (Saturday) as 11 dazzling finalists from across Zimbabwe gather for the highly anticipated Miss Elite Global Zimbabwe modelling contest.
From the serene valleys of Chipinge to the bustling streets of Harare, contestants will vie for the coveted national crown — a title that will grant one young woman the honour of representing Zimbabwe on the global stage.
This year’s pageant builds on an inspiring success story. In 2024, Zimbabwean beauty Christine Ngoshi etched her name in history when she was crowned Miss Elite Global Congeniality — a prestigious international award celebrating the most friendly, relatable and approachable contestant.
Ngoshi earned the accolade in India, standing out among competitors from 10 nations including Malaysia, India, Benaruice and the Philippines. Her warmth and grace became a source of national pride, elevating the profile of the local contest and heightening expectations for this year’s edition.
Tomorrow’s event promises a showcase of elegance, fierce competition and electrifying entertainment — a celebration of talent and resilience that is set to captivate audiences and inspire the next generation of Zimbabwean models.
Celebrated artiste, Dereck Mpofu—known for his velvety vocals, Afro-fusion flair and environmental advocacy—will take to the stage to serenade guests and create an unforgettable atmosphere as the contestants strut for the crown.
Those vying for the national title represent a diverse and vibrant cross-section of Zimbabwe.
Finalists include Anna Simon (Mutare), Mufaro Maushe (Masvingo), Kelly Chari (Gweru), Petronella Kutsoma (Buhera), Hazel Nhambura (Harare), Assantessana Chikondi Chikondi (Marondera), Joy Sithole (Chipinge), Carren Sakupwanya (Mutasa), Kaylee Mutote (Manicaland North), Nyasha Fistara (Marondera) and Telisha Chaoasuka (Harare).
Each contestant brings her own personality, story and advocacy, setting the stage for one of the most competitive editions yet.
Speaking ahead of the show, one of the organisers, Tinashe Mukonowatsauka, expressed excitement, pride and confidence in what the event represents for young Zimbabwean women.
In a heartfelt statement, he said: “Miss Elite Global Zimbabwe has grown into something far bigger than a beauty pageant. It is now a platform for empowerment, mentorship and national representation. Every year we see young women discovering their voices, their confidence and their capacity to influence communities positively. This year’s group of finalists is exceptional—they are intelligent, passionate and deeply patriotic.”
“We are especially motivated by Christine Ngoshi’s achievement last year in India. When she was crowned Miss Elite Global Congeniality, she proved that Zimbabwean women possess, not only beauty, but also character, humility and professionalism. She outshone contestants from 10 nations, and her success has inspired our team to raise the bar even higher for this year’s competition.
“Hosting the event at Mutare Girls’ High is a deliberate nod to the importance of nurturing the next generation. We want young girls to see themselves in these contestants and to believe that they too can dream boldly.
“Our partnership with local schools and artistes such as Dereck Mpofu ensures that the event remains rooted in community while showcasing world-class talent. What excites me the most is the diversity of our finalists.
“They are drawn from different provinces, cultures and backgrounds, yet they all share the same determination to represent Zimbabwe with excellence. In many ways, they reflect the unity we hope to continue building as a nation. Ultimately, Miss Elite Global Zimbabwe is about celebrating womanhood, celebrating talent and celebrating the future.
“We cannot wait to witness who will rise to the occasion this Saturday. Whichever young woman walks away with the crown will carry the hopes of the nation, and we are confident she will make Zimbabwe proud on the global stage,” he said.
