Star FM, the country’s first commercial radio station, continues with its drive to take radio to the people with the station broadcasting from Bulawayo from March 9-20.
The drive, which is in line with the station’s plan this year to take radio to the listeners across the county, will see fans interacting with their favourite presenters, according to public relations and communications manager Beatrice Tonhodzayi-Ngondo.
“Star FM has been broadcasting from outside the studio over the past few weeks. We have been at Sam Levy’s Village in Borrowdale several times and have gone to Gweru.
“Bulawayo is our next port of call and as Zimpapers, we already have the Chronicle there. Star FM, the radio arm, is also now moving into Bulawayo.
“The people of Bulawayo have been supporting us from the start and this is our way of reconnecting,” she said.
Through the initiative, The Breakfast Club’s Napster The Radio Master (Napoleon Nyanhi) and Nikki (Nikki Ndoro) will be broadcasting exclusively from Bulawayo.
Kudzai Violet Gwara, popularly known as KVG, and the notorious Mukwasha Mboko – real name Pathisani Sibanda – will also be part of the mix, broadcasting their show “3-2-6 Express” in the City of Kings and Queens from March 16-20.
“We are not only marketing the station but our presenters as well.
“We are also going to be establishing relations with the Bulawayo business community,” said Tonhodzayi-Ngondo.
Speaking on the development, Pathisani had this to say: “Radio is ‘not for one body but all body’ so we are bringing it to the people,” he said. His sentiments were echoed by KVG who said she was excited about the experience.
