Star FM TXO Sports Star of the Week

Kayla Tapuwa Mngomba is a six-year-old girl at Haig Park Primary School.

She took first position in the U7 girls category at the Zimbabwe Primary Schools Chess Association Championship held recently at Northlea High School in Bulawayo.

Mngomba’s triumph saw her making it into the Zimbabwe team that will participate in the African Schools Chess Championship in Namibia in August.

What she said:

“I play chess and I love it. I went to Bulawayo and won a gold medal. I was number one of the under seven girls in Zimbabwe.

“I am so happy that I won a gold medal and that I am in the Zimbabwe (schools) national team.

“In August I will be going to play chess in Namibia. I love chess so much thank you”.TXO Sports is a schools program on Star Fm that is on every Tuesday and Friday at 13:20.
