AFRO pop musician, Aston “Astrue” Madzima, believes his collaboration with Mambo Dhuterere, on the song Datan naKora, which is currently making waves, marks a new beginning in his career.
The Gokwe-bred musician said he is happy to have featured on Mambo Dhuterere’s track.
“I used to think that people who can’t express their feelings, over something good, are pompous.
“I am in that exact space, right now, and can’t really explain how it feels to have done a collaboration with Mambo Dhuterere.
“I feel like I am in my own world.
“The truth is I have surpassed happiness. This collaboration means a lot to me.
“My music wouldn’t be played the way it’s being played now had it not been for that collaboration.
“I always knew that it was going to be my breakthrough into the musical scene,” he said.
The 26-year-old said the collaboration came at a good time when he was competing in the Starbrite Zimbabwe Talent Show.
“I believe that the collaboration has boosted my profile in the Starbrite competition and actually shows how passionate I am to be a star on a global level.
“I am now in the Starbrite Zimbabwe Talent Show Final, which will be held on September 23,” he told H-Metro.
Astrue briefly narrated how he fell in love with Afro beats.
“After attaining music knowledge at the Music Crossroads Academy Zimbabwe under the Focusrite scholarship, I have grown to become flexible in any genre.
“It took me a lot of time to discover that I wanted to sing Afro beats, which I now consider my kind of music,” said Astrue.
Astrue is currently working on some singles and towards releasing an EP or album.
