THERE is something special about us as Zimbabweans.
Samantha Nyikadzino, a daughter of our soil, has joined Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team as an Electronics Design Engineer.
She becomes the second Zimbabwean to join Lewis Hamilton’s team after Stephanie Travers, who joined the team as a trackside fuel engineer.
She beat 7000 others for the post.
Nyakadzino is a NUST graduate.
On Monday evening, Samantha Nyikadzino announced via Twitter that she had joined the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team as an Electronics Design Engineer.
An integral part of the nearly 1,000 technical staff that have Mercedes racing in the sport.
She follows in the footsteps of fellow Travers, who had a three-year stint at the Mercedes AMG F1 Petronas Team as a Trackside Fluid Engineer.
According to Samantha’s LinkedIn profile, she has Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science Background with acquired technical skills through experience working on schematic capture, PCB layout, BOM creation, geber and assembly file generation. Skilled in programming with Python, C++ and with proficiency in Octave and MATLAB and familiar with SQL.

She studied Electrical Engineering at Zimbabwe’s National University of Science and Technology before doing Electrical Engineering again at Cape Peninsula University of Technology and then doing a degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of South Africa.
From 2013 – 2021 she was employed as a Printed Circuit Board Design Engineer at Parelex Electronics based in Cape Town, South Africa. – H-Metro Reporter/ Greedysouth.
