THE trend has been to flood Harare with some of the most exclusive night clubs and restaurants.
Take the five-star Habhana Lounge for instance, located in the Hillside area of the capital, which has become the talk of the town, since it was unveiled last year.
But, not everyone believes that all the massive investments, into this booming industry, should be restricted to Harare.
Businessman and farmer, Bryan Chitemere, decided to go against this tide and invest into a trendy nightclub and restaurant, in his hometown, Norton.
It’s called the Glass Bar ‘N’ Grill and is located at Twinlakes Shops, in the Mashonaland West town, famed for producing one of the finest Warriors captain of all-time, Knowledge Musona.
And, the big boys of the capital, in the entertainment industry, have been flocking to the little diamond in the heart of this buzzing town.
So far, the club has hosted Holy Ten, Jabavhu Drive, Judgement Yard. Feli Nandi, Nutty O, Roki, Faith Candy and Young Gemini.
“This is just the beginning in terms of the direction we have taken and our mission to make this joint one of the best places to be for revellers in Norton and Harare,” said a member of the management team.
“It’s about showing that communities like Norton deserve such exclusive joints and everything should not just be crammed into the capital.
“There is life outside Harare and we are happy that we now have regular patrons who come from the capital to spend time with us, especially during the weekends.
“The artists we have hosted here have been very appreciative of the work that we have put in and many have either returned or are in the process of returning.
“The people of Norton are also happy that we have come up with such an investment in their town because it has created employment for many locals.
“We believe that is the best way we can develop our country by ensuring that even those areas, which are outside the capital, have life and are bouncing.”
Chitemere was last year rewarded for his services to his community by being voted the Norton Diasporan Investor of the Year 2022.
“This is for our community and we are happy to play a small part in its development,” he said.
