First on stage will be Sulu and his Orchestra Dendera Kings and Jah Prayzah’s Third Generation Band will take over. The two musicians will perform separately before joining forces to thrill their fans.
Sulu and Jah Prayzah are close buddies and their act is one not to be missed. Ever since Sulu released his chart topper “Sean Timba” often referred to as “Batai Munhu”, their connection has gone beyond the stage.
If there is something exciting the gig features some of the youngsters who have made names for themselves in Zimbabwean industry. They both started small, but exposure and support from several people, they have risen to become superstars in their own right.
Currently rocking the airwaves with his new album “Syllabus”, the Orchestra Dendera Kings have been holding shows throughout Zimbabwe.
With Sulu aged 31 and Jah Prayzah at 25, the gig represents a new generation of singers who are enjoying the fruits of independence.
Most people think Jah Prayzah is a fluke and yet signs of a budding star are there to see.
His latest album titled “Tsviriyo” is having more spins in pubs and clubs than any other record at the moment.
Besides the title track, his other single which is doing well on the charts is “Sisiriya” featuring superstar Oliver Mtukudzi.
Dunmore Mutyambizi, the proprietor of Red & Rat Outdoor and organiser of the show, urged youths to celebrate independence in style.
“I am happy to say as a young businessman I take pride in the Government’s empowerment policies that have been designed to uplift the youths. I urge other youths to come and support. Interestingly, one of our celebrated music icons Oliver Mtukudzi has featured on both Sulu and Jah Prayzah’s album.
“That alone was a way of empowering the youths. So in a nutshell, the gig is aimed at celebrating the peace and tranquillity obtaining in Zimbabwe as well as the empowerment drive by the Government,” Dunmore said.
He said he hoped that the family show would live up to its expectations as the last family shows were held way back in the 1990s.
