On the latest album which was recorded at Last Power Media, Mafunga shows his maturity in composing and arranging songs which are also pregnant with spiritually inspiring messages.
The good thing about this album is that it does not only celebrate the good things that God does for people in their lives, but the songs also promote fidelity, love and the virtues of keeping marriages pure.
As a result, he included three love songs, “Makorokoto”, “Ndisiye Ndichate” and “Ndakuda” which people will find befitting for weddings and other related social and romantic events.
The opening track, “Usafunganya”, urges people not to waste their time lamenting over their problems because God is there for them.
These days, most people are wasting themselves to stress because of the challenges they face in life, but this song encourages them to turn to Jesus Christ for salvation and live a stress-free life.
“Munda Wangu” talks about the abundant blessings that God has showered upon their lives and how He keeps on blessing them. This song is closer in meaning to “Ndatenda” where a person gives thanks to the Lord for the prosperity they enjoy in life.
The issue of road carnages makes up the gist of the song “Ngoni Dzerwendo”, but Mafunga asks for divine intervention so that the accidents end.
It is a powerful album that, if given the proper marketing and distribution it deserves, will make it big in the local music charts and other social places.
“We are going to market the album on our own through all means necessary, be it on the streets, in the churches, during shows and crusades.
“However, our major concern is piracy and in that vein we urge people to buy original copies and desist from pirated ones.
“We are also planning for a big launch of the album soon while a DVD of the album is also in the pipeline,” said the soft-spoken Chitungwiza-based musician.
On the sleeve of the album, Mafunga paid tribute to Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa and his wife for the support they gave him.
“I dedicate this project to Papa and Mama for opening a new page of my life,” he wrote. Mafunga also revealed that he was working on a full reggae album set for release mid-May.
