State-of-art library at Pamushana High School

LOLA May said: “There are three things to remember when teaching; know your stuff; know whom you are stuffing; and then stuff them elegantly.” We can safely say: “There are three things to remember when you are a school head; know your priorities; know what drives the learning engine; and then know what you want people to remember you for-your legacy.” Mr Johnson Madhuku, NASH president and Pamushana High School head has done all that.

When The Manica Post visited the Masvingo Province 2015 top of the list O-Level results number one recently, there were men at work putting finishing touches on what is clearly a world class library.

“I believe in spending school fees on projects that directly benefit learning outcomes first. A school without a good library is like a body without a heart.  A library speaks best of what a school is and what to expect from it,”  Madhuku told The Manica Post.

“This library is a huge dream story about my vision and dream for the school. We will officially open the library in October and the rest shall be sweet history for Pamushana. The Manica Post is accordingly invited in advance to witness what is certainly going to be an historic landmark at the school,” said Johnson Madhuku.

A philosopher called Plutarch said, “The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but afire to ignite.”
Headmasters who ignite fire (in the right sense of the word) at their schools will forever remain a source of inspiration and emulation for others. Appreciators say go, Madhuku go!  Haters say down Madhuku, down! We are appreciators. We want the Pamushana High headmaster to know that.
