State withdraws quartet’s robbery charges

quartet, a security guard and three council officials attached to the treasury department were picked by police on August 29.
The guard, Trois Muleya, who was admitted at Beitbridge District Hospital after he was allegedly assaulted by police detectives during interrogation has since been discharged.
Tsepani Dube (33) who is employed as the treasurer alongside Memory Moyo (28) and Ntuseni Mulagisi (37) who were also employed in the council finance department were facing charges of armed robbery.
Prosecutor Mr Johannes Tlou said the State was dropping charges against them because there was no evidence linking the four to the crime.
The $200 000 was stolen from the council strong room after robbers overpowered Muleya who was on guard.
The matter was later reported to police leading to the arrest of the four.
