Failure to withstand incessant insults from her step-son left a Mutare woman with no option but to seek the court’s intervention. Prisca Mbengo appeared before Mrs Yeukai Chigodora praying for protection against Nhamo Ndoro.
Mbengo told the court that she is a widow and was the third wife to Nhamo’s father.
“Your Worship we were three wives but the other two and my husband died. Nhamo is the son of the first wife and he is harassing me. He says I do not own anything at the homestead and has since told me to go back to my parents.
“His words are hurtful and he does not respect me as a mother. I had a cordial relationship with his mother but I don’t know what has gotten into his mind,” she said.
Ndoro neither disputed nor agreed to the allegations but instead thanked Mrs Chigodora on her decision to granting a peace order.
“All I want to say is thank you Your Worship for considering the wish of my stepmother. I am not against the order and I cannot speak much. I am happy with the order because I will not visit her place or even greet her. Though we are a family we will no longer invite each other to family events,” he said.
Mrs Chigodora granted the order.
