A DANGAMVURA woman (51) was forced to abandon her matrimonial home following death threats and abuses from her step-son.

Prince Chitsa (32) has been a thorn in his step-mother, Precious Pamhene’s flesh following his release from prison last year.

Prince’s whereabouts are currently unknown but he also stands accused of sending threatening text messages to Pamhene.

In one of the text messages presented in court, Prince writes: “I am going to kill you if you continue staying at our house. I am not scared of hacking you as you know I once attacked my wife with an axe. I will kill you with an axe. You have nowhere to report this to as they cannot do anything to me . . . ”

The court heard that Prince’s own wife has since deserted him, together with their two children, due to his abusive nature.

Testifying in court, Pamhene said she left her matrimonial home due to Prince’s uncouth behaviour as well as the little protection she gets from her husband, only identified as Chitsa, who has dismally failed to rein in his son.

Said Pamhene: “It has been four months since I left home to a secret place. I married Prince’s father in 1993 when he already had two children (Prince and his sister). I took care of the children like my own as Prince was just three years.

“People in the neighbourhood call me Mai Prince as they think I am his biological mother. My own children only came to know that Prince is their step-son last year.

“However, after doing everything to see him growing up to be the man he has become, Prince is now paying me back in this way. When he was released from prison, he told his brother that he missed his wife and children, but had no money to travel to Rusape to pick them up. We contributed the money and he went to collect his family.

“However, it was a short-lived reunion as the wife has since deserted him following his endless death threats on her,” said Pamhene.

She said after his wife deserted him, Prince turned his anger on her.

“Having been fed up with Prince’s endless insults and death threats, I decided to move out of the matrimonial home. My husband managed to find out where I am staying and followed me there. He asked me to come back home while he talks to his son. I refused because I know that my husband cannot rein in his son as he is also afraid of him.

“Prince almost attacked me with an axe and my husband was there but he could not do much to protect me. Prince is an ungrateful person, a thief, a lazy man, disrespectful, a bad father and husband.

“He picks up fights with everyone and we are afraid of him. This is all happening despite the fact that I have a protection order granted against him by this court,” said Pamhene.

However, it later emerged that both father and son are harassing Pamhene as she also has a protection order against her husband.

She, however, said her husband has reformed following the granting of the protection order.

In passing his ruling, Mr Xavier Chipato said Pamhene should use the protection order she holds against Prince.

On the death threats, he advised her to make a police report so that the police can bring Prince to book.

After the court session, Pamhene went to make the police report.

She was advised to go back home and wait for Prince to send another death message so that the police could bring him to book.

The woman said is now living in fear.
