Stephen Mutamba assumes Commissioner-General of Zimbabwe Republic Police post

HARARE, Zimbabwe – Deputy Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba has been appointed as the Commissioner-General of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, effective 1 January 2025.

President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa made the appointment in terms of Section 221(1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

Dr Martin Rushwaya, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet conveyed the appointment in a Press statement dated 20 December 2024.

Dept Comm Gen Mutamba will assume leadership of the police force in the new year, taking over the responsibilities of the Commissioner-General role. This significant appointment reflects the President’s confidence in Dept Comm Gen Mutamba’s capabilities to oversee the national police service.
