THE qualifying stage of the 2026 Sterling International Pairs Golf Tournament has officially concluded, with the final qualifying events held on August 8 at Bulawayo Golf Club, Royal Harare Golf Club and Police Golf Club.
A total of 34 qualifying events were held across Zimbabwe, attracting golfers from different clubs and regions and providing players with an opportunity to earn their place in the prestigious National Final set for Country Club in Harare on Saturday.
The country’s top qualifying pairs will compete for the coveted opportunity to represent Zimbabwe at the International Pairs World Finals in Tenerife, Spain.
Among the participants in this year’s National Final are Matabeleland Ladies Golf president Sakhile Ndiweni and her partner Hla Mbeji, who secured their place through the qualifying events at Harrry Allen Golf Club in Bulawayo.
Their participation adds further diversity to a tournament that continues to attract golfers from across Zimbabwe.
Also competing at the National Final will be former Sables player Japhet Ndebele and his partner Clarence Sibanda. Ndebele’s participation brings an exciting sporting dimension to the event, highlighting the tournament’s appeal beyond traditional golf circles.
The 2026 tournament is being run in partnership with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) under the theme “Experience the Beauty of Zimbabwe, One Fairway at a Time.”
The theme highlights the tournament’s broader objective of using golf as a platform to showcase Zimbabwe’s tourism attractions, destinations and hospitality while bringing golfers from across the country together.
The successful National Final pair will go on to represent Zimbabwe on the international stage, competing against qualifiers from around the world in Tenerife.
As Zimbabwe’s top pairs battle it out for national honours and the chance to experience golf on the international stage, the Sterling International Pairs continues to demonstrate the power of golf to promote sports tourism and showcase the beauty of Zimbabwe .
