his visit to this part of the world is being facilitated by World Wide Scholarships Group through their Africa Soccer Trials programme which they launched this year.
World Wide Scholarships Group president Munya Maraire confirmed yesterday that Potts will hold trials for young aspiring Zimbabwean players in Harare from June 21-24 and he will is also be representing former English Premiership champions Manchester City at the Africa Soccer Trials.
“It has been confirmed that Africa Soccer Trials will be hosting a trials session in Zimbabwe as well on June 21-24, 2013. The event is set up in two ways: Open trials for players who are not signed by an agent or are part of a Premiership team and Closed trials for players who have national caps or play professionally who have agent representation.
The event which will be in Zimbabwe will be an open trials opportunity whereby top players will have their chance to showcase their ability in front of English Premiership scouts from the UK. Steve Potts, who is the senior scout for Manchester City, will be in attendance,” Maraire said.
He also said that registration for Africa Soccer Trials has begun and players interested in participating are urged to do so urgently as there are limited spaces available. Top players from the open trials will receive an invitation to the closed trials event in South Africa from June 28-30.
