Stix backs his charges

BLACK Rhinos coach Stanford “Stix” Mutizwa said he is not bothered by the fact that they haven’t won a game this month in the Castle Lager Premiership Soccer League.

The army side lost to Bulawayo Chiefs before they drew against Dynamos and ZPC Kariba.

However, they won in the Chibuku Super Cup against Chicken Inn, where they progressed to the semi-finals.

Stix believes they are on the right track and is pleased by the way his boys have expressed themselves on and off the pitch.

“I would like to say so far so good.

“I am happy with the results we recently had.

“We might not have managed to collect maximum points but the boys have responded well to what we are trying to work on.

“As a team, we have been playing quite well.

“We want to continue improving and collecting points along the way.

“We are not going to read much into our opponents’ game plans but we will focus on having the best possible result for our side,” he said.

Black Rhinos are set to play struggling Harare City this weekend.

There were reports yesterday the Sunshine Boys had parted ways with coach Taurai Mangwiro.

Mutizwa believes he will not read a lot into Harare City’s record.

“We are looking forward to rising in terms of our log position so the idea is to tell the troops to try to overcome whoever we are going to face.

“Harare City are fighting relegation and, at every given opportunity, they would like to pick up points.

“We have played against them and managed to win some of the games we played against them. However, every game is a new game and it has to be approached with caution.”

Stix believes for them to finish in the top four is an uphill task.

Rhinos are five points adrift of Highlanders who are sitting in position four.

“Getting in the top four is actually an uphill task.

“All the teams ahead of us will be also fighting for that same goal.

“But, that won’t stop us from fighting for what we believe in.

“We want to overtake them and that is our major concern,” he said.
