BIRMINGHAM. – Aston Villa are at risk of seeing the values of three players plummet next summer when they enter the final year of their contracts.
Tyrone Mings, Danny Ings and Marvelous Nakamba could end up in a similar situation to Douglas Luiz, who is out of contract at the end of the current season.
Douglas, 24, was signed by Villa in 2019 for around £15 million following the club’s promotion back to the Premier League and his stock has risen since and his value has doubled.
He is now worth around £31.5 million according to Transfermarkt.
The Brazilian international has now captured the attention of a number of clubs across Europe, with Arsenal, AC Milan, Juventus and AS Roma all linked with a move for the player.
Tyrone Mings – £27m
The 29-year-old defender is in a good run of form after making a return to the Villa starting line-up following the injury to Diego Carlos earlier this season.
Mings’ value currently sits at £27m but as his contract approaches its conclusion and the player reaches 30 years of age.
Danny Ings – £18m
The 30-year-old striker was never likely to increase much in value after a £26m arrival from Southampton in the aftermath of Jack Grealish’s exit to Manchester City last year.
A decision will need to be made regarding Ings’s future sooner rather than later if Villa want to recoup a decent fee for the former England international before his contract expires in 2024.
Marvelous Nakamba – £6.3m
Nakamba, 28, is yet to play a minute of football for Villa this season but this could be set to change following the injury to Boubacar Kamara.
Gerrard used the Zimbabwean international regularly in the early matches of his reign at the club and could call for him once again to fill the defensive gap in midfield during Kamara’s absence. – Birmingham Mail
