Stolen phone lands woman in trouble

A 22-YEAR-OLD woman is in trouble for allegedly accepting a stolen cellphone as a gift from her boyfriend.

Rejoice Mhlanga appeared before Harare magistrate, Yeukai Dzuda, charged with defeating the course of justice.

She was remanded in custody.

Circumstances are that Mhlanga received a cellphone as a gift from her boyfriend Davison Chinopenga.

The court heard that on June 30, the phone was among stolen valuables in an armed robbery.

The court heard that during investigations of the robbery case, CID Homicide approached Mhlanga after tracking the stolen cellphone.

She initially told the cops that she had bought the phone from Gulf Complex.

However, on August 5, CID Homicide received information that linked Chinopenga to an armed robbery.

On further interrogation, Mhlanga told the police that Chinopenga had gifted her the phone.
