Beitbridge East legislator Cde Albert Nguluvhe has called on Zanu PF members to bury differences arising from the July 2018 elections and redirect their energy towards implementing community and national developmental projects.
He said it was disappointing to note that there were some party cadres who were still bitter at the outcome of the primary elections from which party candidates emerged.
Cde Nguluvhe said primary elections were part of a process to choose those who represented the party in different portfolios.
He was speaking during an interface meeting organised by Beitbridge West Member of Parliament Cde Ruth Maboyi at Swereki Business Centre last week.
“We are one people, let’s desist from following individuals,” he said. “We should stand guided by party principles. Yes, we had primary elections and these were a mere process to choose party representatives for the harmonised elections.
“There are those who wanted certain cadres to win and this did not happen. The electorate should be the winners. We are one family. Now is the time to work for the people and the nation. Let’s avoid parallel structures in Zanu PF; they don’t benefit anyone.”
Cde Nguluvhe said it was important for party leaders to continually engage with the grassroots structures to deliberate on cross-cutting challenges to enhance a shared vision on developmental matters.
Birth certificates
He said unity of purpose was critical in the party and society in enhancing social cohesion.
Cde Nguluvhe said it was important for people in the area to acquire primary documents (birth certificates and national identity cards).
“We must be documented and register to vote in every election,” he said. “We risk losing out in terms of resource allocations if our people are not regis tered.”
Speaking during the same meeting, Beitbridge’s Proportional Representation member Cde Lisa Singo said:
“Where we are having differences as a people, let’s use proper channels to resolve them within the party and guided by Zanu PF principles.”
