MOTSWANA songbird Slizer (real name Naledi Kaisara) has rubbished media reports that she was dating Utakataka Express front man Peter Moyo saying Moyo should stop feeding the media with “falsehoods”. This comes after reports from the media and social networks that Moyo and Slizer’s relationship was now compromising Moyo’s relationship with his girlfriend who he intends to wed.
Speaking before her performance at a fundraising musical gala held at Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo on Friday evening, the Slizer Diwewewe hitmaker said rumours about her alleged affair with Moyo were disturbing though she chose to remain mum about the whole saga.
The house-kwasa songstress denied ever having plans to marry Moyo, but could neither deny nor confirm if the two had been seeing each other. When quizzed about her relationship with Moyo, Slizer kept on avoiding the questions.
But a photo of the two kissing intimately gave her away as she confirmed that they had indeed shared an intimate kiss.
“I confirm that the picture which is circulating on Facebook is that of me and Peter. That’s me on the picture, I cannot deny that. However, I would rather remain quiet on whether we are in love or not for professional reasons.
“I will not comment on that issue as I have come here to perform and not respond to some funny issues,” said Slizer.
Last week, tabloid H-Metro ran a story where Moyo was quoted saying he had summoned Slizer to come to Zimbabwe and clear the air about their alleged affair to his in-laws to be. But Slizer professed ignorance saying she only learnt about the issue from the media as Moyo had not told her anything to that effect.
“If Peter told you he phoned me in connection with meeting his in-laws, he is telling lies. If he says more things about this whole issue, I will see what I will do about it . . . I have heard what people are saying about me.
“I know Peter as a fellow artiste but he is surprisingly refuting what is being published by the media. I would rather speak to my fans through my music than responding to the media over these funny stories being written about me.”
The Motswana however urged people to leave Moyo alone and let him proceed with his marriage plans.
“Peter could have said something about me in order to make someone happy. If he wants to marry, let him marry. Please let us not disturb him.”
Reflecting on the whole issue, Slizer said she had benefited immensely from the false rumours about her affair with Young Igwe as her fan base had remarkably grown.
“It seems the more detractors try to bring me down, the more God blesses me. I am getting encouragement from my fans in Botswana and even here in Zimbabwe. I am being motivated by the way fans are reacting to the rumours.
“They are urging me to continue doing what I know best and I will remain mum. I am not moved though I am surprised with the kind of interest this issue has generated,” she said.
When Chronicle Showbiz contacted Moyo yesterday, he played down the allegations accusing Slizer of exaggerating the matter.
“Truly, some of the things being said about the whole issue are not true. There is nothing going on between me and Slizer, it is now water under the bridge. It is over and most of the things which are being said now are false,” said Moyo.
