Stop infighting and strengthen party structures, Zanu-PF urged

rather than jostling for positions ahead of harmonised elections this year.

Cde Nzuma said what was critical now was to ensure that members mobilised support so that the party’s presidential candidate, President Mugabe, wins resoundingly.

He said this while addressing supporters at rallies he held in Gwevo business centre in Buhera West constituency.

Cde Nzuma also addressed party supporters at Chigavava and Mudzamiri business centres in the same constituency.

“I urge you to invest your energy in strengthening the party, mobilising supporters so that the party continues to grow rather than preoccupying on taking up positions and seeking to get the right to represent the party in the coming elections,” said Cde Nzuma, who is also political commissar for the Manicaland chapter of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association.

He said all party members should ensure that the party’s confirmed presidential candidate, President Mugabe wins resoundingly through mobilising people around.

“The greatest present and appreciation that we can give and show to President Mugabe for liberating the country and empowering us is voting for him.

“There is no better present we can deliver to him than that,” he said.

Cde Nzuma warned those who had positioned themselves and started campaigning to secure the right to represent the party as MPs and councillors that they should wait for the party national leadership to announce criteria to select candidates..

“This is not yet time for campaigning. We should wait for the party leadership to release the guidelines.

“If you start campaigning now that is not consistent with the party rules and regulations, you will be disappointed when election guidelines are released,” he said.

Cde Nzuma said it was equally important that Zanu-PF worked hard to repossess the constituency that went to the MDC-T in the 2008 polls.
