A HARARE woman yesterday told a court that her ex-husband was a miser who would rather watch his children suffering than caring for their welfare.
Hazerlet Pambana said this when she claimed a maintenance upward variation from her ex-husband, Harry Matiza.
She accuses him of neglecting his three children.
Pambana was claiming $200 000 from the current $40 000 that Matiza is paying.
“Your Worship, if possible, I want the money to be garnished because he is a stingy man.
“He gets money, but refuses to care for his own children.
“I’m tired of doing everything alone. l saw his pay slip and he is earning US$360,” Pambana said.
Matiza offered $80 000 saying what Pambana was claiming was his entire salary.
“She just wants my entire pay.
“My contract clearly states that I earn $200 000 with no US dollar allowances and my payslip holds false information.
“I have since remarried and am expecting a baby anytime soon,” he said.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavira ordered Matiza to pay US$100.
“Stop lying to the court. This is for the welfare of your own kids, not the court.
“Your pay slip clearly states that you earn US$356, but you’re busy talking of your contract and not your children’s welfare,” magistrate Mashavira said.
