A STORM ravaged parts of the cricket ground in Bangkok, Thailand, derailing the Lady Chevrons’ charge towards a healthy lead in the Twenty20I series.
They went 1-0 up with a 24-run win over the hosts on Tuesday.
The second match has since been rescheduled for this morning.
“Yes, we are all safe and sound,” Lady Chevrons head coach Gary Brent told H-Metro yesterday.
“Yes, a massive storm has destroyed parts of the ground but the Thailand Cricket Association has worked tirelessly to reschedule our game to tomorrow (today) and the third T20I on Friday.
“It has been raining all day here but the forecast is good.”
What Wessly Madhevere is to the Chevrons is what Audrey Mazvishaya is to the Lady Chevrons.
Tuesday’s win, after a series sweep in the three-match One Day Internationals in which the visitors were outclassed, was built on opening batte, Sharne Mayers’s unbeaten half century, 71, and a hattrick from seamer Mazvishaya.
She became the first Zimbabwean female cricketer in history to claim a hat-trick in either format.
Zimbabwe totalled 143/4 in their allotted overs after Captain, Mary-Anne Musonda won the toss and elected to bat.
Mayers’s half century comprised eight boundaries and a maximum while Musonda and Ashley Ndiraya weighed in with 34 and 11 runs.
“The girls played well,” added Brent.
