Zim ready for Cosasa

THE National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe head coach, Briad Nhubu, says they are geared up for the Cosasa African Under-18 and Under-20 combined championships.

The five-day event starts this weekend in Ndola, Zambia.

Zimbabwe will be represented by a team of 26 youths and 30 juniors.

“We are very grateful for the support we are getting from the government, through the Ministry of Sport and the Sports and Recreation Commission.

“They have made sure that we have decent accommodation for the team and also availed the National Sports Stadium for us to use for training, which is very commendable.

“We are having, at least, two sessions every day, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon, and we are happy that the majority of the athletes are already in camp.”

He added:

“We are only left with, at least, five athletes, whom we are expecting to join the team soon and, from our fist assessments, all of the athletes are in good shape.

“We have recorded no injuries so far and we also appreciate the fact that this time around we have the physicist who is taking care of the team but we are happy that all the athletes are fit and ready to go and represent their country.”

The team is being trained by experienced coaches who include Aaron Whyte, Shadreck Chatunga and Cuthbert Nyasango.
