THE Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Raj Modi has commended the strategic alliance between Genesys Corporation and the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) set to advance technology, education and healthcare innovation.
The two organisations signed a landmark memorandum of understanding (MoU) that brings together cutting-edge industry expertise and world-class academic research.
The milestone agreement is further strengthened by a parallel partnership with Salutem International Medical Fund, ensuring that healthcare and medical technologies stand as a central pillar of the collaboration.
The multi-sector alliance is designed to strengthen research and development (R&D), accelerate the commercialisation of innovations and contribute meaningfully to Zimbabwe’s industrial growth and socio-economic transformation.
Commenting on the MoU that will see Genesys, NUST and Salutem jointly pursuing initiatives, Deputy Minister Modi said: “The partnership between NUST, Genesys Corporation, and Salutem International Medical Fund is not just about education or healthcare — it is about building new industries for Zimbabwe. For too long, our nation has imported innovation. This collaboration signals a turning point: Zimbabwe will now be a producer of technology, intellectual property, and enterprise.”
He said the initiative aligned with Education 5.0, will transforms ideas into industries, students into innovators and research into economic growth.
The Deputy Minister said the impact will be felt across manufacturing, digital solutions, and healthcare, strengthening the industrial base while opening pathways for exports and investment.
“This is how Zimbabwe will design its own future — not as a follower, but as a leader in innovation and industrialisation.”

Speaking at the signing, Genesys Corporation chief executive officer (CEO) Mr Louis John Herbst expressed his pride in the achievement.
“I am delighted that through constructive dialogue and a shared vision, we have reached this milestone with NUST, and extended it to include our trusted partner, Salutem International Medical Fund. This collaboration represents a powerful synergy of academia, industry, and healthcare. Together, and in alignment with President Mnangagwa’s vision for technological innovation towards Vision 2030, we are building solutions that will transform industries, advance healthcare, and uplift communities,” he said.
“I am proud to have played a role in securing this agreement, which positions Zimbabwe as a hub of technological, medical, and educational innovation.”

“This partnership with Genesys and Salutem demonstrates NUST’s commitment to translating research into tangible impact. By aligning our innovation agenda with industry needs, we are ensuring that our students and researchers contribute directly to national development. The launch of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Robotics, Electronics and Artificial Intelligence is a bold step forward in shaping Zimbabwe’s knowledge-driven economy.”

Salutem International Medical Fund, Managing Director Mr Ruka Nyoka underlined the critical role of healthcare innovation in the partnership.
“At Salutem, we believe that access to affordable healthcare must go hand in hand with technological advancement. This partnership gives us a unique opportunity to integrate medical aid solutions with cutting-edge medical technologies, including Smart Hospital Beds, AI-powered DigiDoc consultations, and MediChatBot virtual support. Together with Genesys and NUST, we are redefining healthcare delivery in Zimbabwe by making it smarter, more accessible, and more sustainable.”
The MoU will remain in force for an initial five years, with the potential for renewal, reflecting the strong and shared commitment of all parties to leverage science, technology, healthcare, and education for national progress.
