Streak hails his champions

Streak said Tuskers were dreaming big following their 18-run victory over Mountaineers.
Tuskers went into the match a slightly weakened side following injuries to their five influential players, including captain Gavin Ewing, who suffered a shoulder dislocation last week.
But with odds heavily stacked against them, Tuskers were simply the better side in this closely-fought encounter after posting 190 and 290 runs in their innings.
Hamilton Masakadza’s first innings century helped prop up Mountaineers on their way to 229 before the Mountaineers bowlers tightened the screws on day four of the contest to bowl out their opponents for 228 runs.
Streak attributed their victory to a disciplined and steady bowling performance especially from all-rounder Keegan Meth whom he described as ‘fantastic’ after taking 13 wickets.
“All the guys played their hearts out but allow me to mention the contribution of Keegan.
“He took an impressive 13 wickets at a cost of 109 runs as well as scoring an incredible 65 in our second innings, he was just superb.
“We went into the match with our side weakened by the absence of our captain Gavin Ewing and four other key players. Mountaineers have been in great form and no one gave us a chance to upstage them.”
Tuskers had a good run in the first class competition finishing second behind Mountaineers after the league games.
They won four and lost two from the 12 games they played while the other games either ended in draws or no result.
But after failing to make the finals in the other two competitions this year, Streak acknowledged there was need for the team to improve next season.
Tuskers reached the semi-finals of the MetBank Pro40 Championships but were bundled out after losing to champions Southern Rocks by nine wickets.
“We wouldn’t want to get carried away by our Logan Cup victory, it will be wise if we start preparing for the next season whilst there is still time.
“We shall look at our developmental side and bring in some of the exciting young guys to the senior team.”
