A 17-year-old Glenview student died on Monday after allegedly being stabbed by a classmate following a misunderstanding over a stapler.

The deceased student allegedly engaged in a physical fight with the 17-year-old suspect, who stabbed him several times on his neck with pieces of glass.

The suspect claimed he was defending himself from the deceased and his friend, who were bullying him for breaking his stapler at school.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said investigations were underway.

“Police in Harare are investigating a murder case which occurred on 27/03/23 at Churu Farm, Glen View, Harare, in which a student, 17, died after being stabbed on the neck with a piece of glass by another student, 17.

“The suspect was allegedly defending himself from the victim and his friend who had been bullying him for breaking a stapler at school,” said Ass Comm Nyathi.

Meanwhile, police in Murewa are investigating circumstances surrounding a case of murder in which James Tsiga, 41, was found dead with multiple open wounds and bruises all over his body at Jekwa Business Centre on Monday.
