Student teacher found dead in Gweru

A student teacher was found dead at Guinea Fowl School in Gweru over the weekend.

Police have since launched a manhunt for the victim’s boyfriend, identified as Valentine Tamuka Zireva (27), in connection with the case.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “Police in Gweru are investigating a case of murder that occurred at Guinea Fowl School, Gweru, on January 25. A student teacher, Keener Tsanana (21) was found dead with a swollen forehead and bruises all over the body.

“The victim’s boyfriend, Valentine Tamuka Zireva aged 27 is being sought in connection with the case. Anyone with information that might assist with investigations should contact the nearest police station,” said Commissioner Nyathi.

Meanwhile, police have also confirmed a fire incident that occurred in Rujeko, Masvingo, on January 24 in which a boy aged 14 died while two women sustained severe burns after the house they were in caught fire.

The fire emanated from a pot of hot cooking oil after one of the victims added onions to the oil.
