HERENTALS are going through a tricky start to the season, which has seen them failing to collect a full set of points in four fixtures.
And, their slow start appears to have overshadowed the exploits of forward, Tafadzwa Jim, who has been ruthless in front of goal scoring three times and providing an assist in four assignments.
He is currently the league’s joint leading scorer with Hwange’s Brighton Makopa.
Jim has not been only finding the target but he has produced some moments of magic.
The 20-year-old has stepped out of his shell to become the Students’ main man upfront.
John Zhuwawo, Tino Benza and Prince Chama are usually the team’s main attacking threats.
Jim credited his teammates for his continued fine run.
“It’s good that I’m having the best start of my career and I’m really enjoying every minute on the pitch.
“But, I also want to give credit to my teammates who are making things seem easy for me.
“I think we have been together long enough to understand each other, they know when to give me the ball and when I’m not comfortable with it.”
Jim scored a brace on Saturday against Ngezi Platinum Stars to force a 3-3 stalemate at Baobab.
And, he feels their spirited fight against Ngezi has restored faith in their stable.
“It’s game which many never gave us a chance after going 0-2 down to Ngezi but we kept believing and managed to get a point in a match that we nearly won if it wasn’t for that late goal which we conceded.
“It’s not been a good start for us but everyone at the team is responsible with every result which we get because we are a family.
“I think we are now getting there, we just need to remain hopeful and continue putting in hundred percent effort to turn around the tables,” he said. Herentals will host ZPC Kariba this Saturday at the National Sports Stadium.
